Back in the days of 1840’s, three frenchmen struck gold in the ravines around the present town and the Rush began soon after.\u00a0 Now that all that dust has settled, its a pretty and walk friendly place- we discovered the postoffice was almost as old as the Gold Rush- the photographs showed the pony changing stopover and Postmaster Frank runs the show of ‘the oldest post office west of Mississippi’ singlehandedly.<\/p>\n

Next stop was a wonderful morning haunt of locals- a perfect breakfast place – Old Town Grill- with Lucy serving us the nicest vegetarian omelette with heaps of freshly grilled squash, peppers, zucchini and spinach.\u00a0 The rye bread had a bite and the tea tray gave us three cups of varied black and herbal options.<\/p>\n

The ravines were the venue for a 50K mountain trail marathon and thats what we came to see.\u00a0 Hard core long distance runners were lined up on the wet morning to test their metal and win this beautiful trophy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Back in the days of 1840’s, three frenchmen struck gold in the ravines around the present town and the Rush began soon after.\u00a0 Now that all that dust has settled, its a pretty and walk friendly place- we discovered the postoffice was almost as old as the Gold Rush- the photographs showed the pony changing stopover and Postmaster Frank runs the show of ‘the oldest post office west of Mississippi’ singlehandedly.<\/p>\n

Next stop was a wonderful morning haunt of locals- a perfect breakfast place – Old Town Grill- with Lucy serving us the nicest vegetarian omelette with heaps of freshly grilled squash, peppers, zucchini and spinach.\u00a0 The rye bread had a bite and the tea tray gave us three cups of varied black and herbal options.<\/p>\n

The ravines were the venue for a 50K mountain trail marathon and thats what we came to see.\u00a0 Hard core long distance runners were lined up on the wet morning to test their metal and win this beautiful trophy.<\/span><\/p>\n
Beautiful homes make this old American town by the American river, not too far from the Californian capital of Sacramento a delight to visit.\u00a0 Meet Lucy and Frank for quick lowdown on all the special spots.<\/p>\n
